Our Responsiblity to Protect
When I read the headline this morning, “Endangered animals to be hunted” I contacted SanWild, the African wildlife sanctuary to ask why these animals were being hunted. Here is the response I received:
For one reason only; it is an obsession of trophy hunters to own the beauty of the creatures they so easily destroy and to hang their heads on their walls or put their skins down on their floors.
I’ve never understood hunting. People trying to save endangered species (and various human-tortured-animals in general) are fighting an uphill battle. I think that someday hunting and animal abuse in general will become part of our collective embarrassment as a species.
PS: Many of the animals on the “huntable” list of a major African hunting organization are endangered. A serious gap in conscience.
I hope you’ll join me by being a voice for animals who in many instances are reliant upon us for care, or are vulnerable to humans with bad intentions. I welcome your comments.
